Hearty Welcome !

TRPA accorded warm welcome to the newly extended Intercity Express at Thrissur on 17/11/09 at 11.05 PM.

Presence of dignitaries including Shri. P.C.Chacko, M.P., Shri. Therambil Ramakrishnan, MLA, Shri. V.S.Sunil Kumar, MLA, Mayor Prof.R.Bindu, Corporation opposition leader Shri. I.P.Paul, Former MLAs Shri. T.V.Chandramohan, Shri. M.K.Kannan, Former Mayors Shri.Jos Kattookkaran, Shri.K.Radhakrishnan enlightened the occasion.

The train will run on temporary basis from this day onwards till 20/01/2009. We expect it would become a permanent arrangement very soon.

The train timings at Thrissur is at 03.38 on its run towards Thiruvananthapuram and at 23.00Hrs. on its return trip.

RECEPTION TO JANA SHATABDI EXPRESS

TRPA accorded a reception to Jana Shatabdi Express on its first run through Thrissur Station on 15/08/2009. Shri. P.C.Chacko, M.P. inagurated the function.

Thrissur Railway Passengers’ Association- TRPA is the confluence of all the stake holders who are interested in the development of Railway facilities in and around Thrissur. Naturally, all the people who avail the Railway facilities from Thrissur and other neighbouring stations are automatically the members of this association. Due to historic reasons, commuters from Thrissur towards Ernakulam, Kozhikode and Palakkad sides form the active group. TRPA always stand for meeting the public demands and in this process is well supported by Railway men, Political leaders and the media in Thrissur.
The tireless efforts by TRPA in achieving the long standing, basic requirements of Thrissur are well recognised and appreciated by one and all. TRPA is committed to continue its services to the society at large, cutting across all divisions.

Rail as most sustainable means of mass rapid transportation

With the worldwide demand for transportation expected to triple by 2050, the future of rail looks good. Rail is by far the most sustainable means of mass rapid transportation. With high speed trains it now represents a viable alternative to short haul flights, and often a more comfortable and convenient alternative to the motor vehicle. In addition to significantly lower energy usage / CO² emissions per passenger, when compared to road or air transport, rail systems require much less land than roads and therefore the environmental impact is further reduced. Since the 1980s there has been what is seen as a gradual ‘renaissance’ of Rail Architecture with High Speed Rail projects in France and Japan leading the way, along with new MRT projects across the globe being completed. As the world is gradually waking up to the reality of the climate crisis we enter a new era of Rail Transportation. This is an exciting new chapter in the development of rail projects.
