Sub: Revision of Time Table

We would like to submit the following points for your kind consideration and implementation during the forthcoming revision of Railway Timetable due on 1-7-2011.

1) Train no: 12683 Ernakulam - Bangalore City Bi weekly express has been departing from Ernakulam Junction at 17.00 hrs on all Sundays and has been reaching Bangalore city at 4.20hrs on all Mondays. This timing was very convenient for weekend travellers returning to Bangalore and the patronage for this train was very high till date. Now, Railways have unilaterally changed the day from Sunday to Monday without any justifiable reason and against the interest of the passengers. We request you to kindly revise this decision.

2) On most of the days 16526 Bangalore - Kanyakumari Express is reaching Wadakkanchery in time, but since then it is being detained either at Wadakkanchery itself or in subsequent stations for giving way for the late running 12626 New Delhi - Trivandrum Kerala Express and 12618 Nizamuddin - Ernakulam Mangala Express etc. Further, it is being detained again at Pudukkad for the 12081 Kozhikode - Trivandrum Jan Shatabdi Express. By the time 16526 leaves Pudukkad it becomes more than 90 minutes late. This undue delay on most of the days is creating hardships and difficulties to hundreds of commuters including ladies and students who are depending on this train for their daily travel up to stations including Aluva. Similarly, in the return direction train no: 56608 Ernakulam - Shoranur passenger normally does not depart from Ernakulam Junction in time due to various reasons. Due to this delay this passenger is being detained en-route to give way for trains like 12082 Trivandrum - Kozhikode Jan Shatabdi, 16525 Kanyakumari - Bangalore express etc. On most of the days, train no: 56608 reach Thrissur more than 60 minutes late. Again ladies and students are the sufferers, as in most of the routes; the last buses will leave before this train arrives. This problem is to be resolved during the forthcoming Time Table revision.

3) We are happy to note that the doubling work between Shoranur & Mangalore is almost complete and Railways are planning to increase the speed of trains considerably in this sector. Hence, the departure time of 16306 Kannur - Ernakulam Intercity Express may be revised to 17.15 hrs from Kozhikode and the departure time of 56603 Trichur - Kannur Passenger may be revised to 6.30 hrs for the benefit of daily commuters.

4) Revised Time Table may kindly be published and made available for sale (at least in major stations) a minimum of 3 days in advance from the effective date and the relevant changes in timings may kindly be informed to the Public through all media and Stations sufficiently early to avoid any possible inconvenience in this account. Even the budget is presented in Parliament one month in advance and we donot find any valid reason for delaying the publishing of revised train timings till the last moment.
Expecting your favourable orders and thanking you in advance

Regards

General Secretary,
Thrissur Railway Passengers Association

  1. Train no.56371 Guruvayur Ernakulam Passenger is not having a stop at Kalamassery. If a one minute stop is provided, it will be of great help to passengers. Any effort is being taken for this?
