Thrissur Railway Passengers’ Association- TRPA is the confluence of all the stake holders who are interested in the development of Railway facilities in and around Thrissur. Naturally, all the people who avail the Railway facilities from Thrissur and other neighbouring stations are automatically the members of this association. Due to historic reasons, commuters from Thrissur towards Ernakulam, Kozhikode and Palakkad sides form the active group. TRPA always stand for meeting the public demands and in this process is well supported by Railway men, Political leaders and the media in Thrissur.
The tireless efforts by TRPA in achieving the long standing, basic requirements of Thrissur are well recognised and appreciated by one and all. TRPA is committed to continue its services to the society at large, cutting across all divisions.
“Our prime focus is on the sustainable improvement of Rail service in the country to world class levels with special emphasis on Thrissur.”

Overall a good article, though I have some additions from my side.
ReplyDeletePlease note that Mangalore-Sakleshpur-Hassan is a ghat line with gradients. This means that there is severe restriction on number of passenger trains allowed to run in this stretch and that too with only limited number of coaches. The authorities are not able to run one more night train between Mangalore and Bangalore even now despite the demand, as per my understanding. Hence, expecting more trains from Kerala via this ghat line in future may be easier said than done.
The other alternative we have is proposed Mysore-Thalassery line. It has been made clear many times before by the Mangalore/Kodagu MP that they instead want a new line Mysore-Kodagu-Mangalore for which Karnataka demand existing for past many years. This is going to be a roadblock for Thalassery-Mysore line as there is presently no support from Karnataka. Moreover proximity of Mangalore-Hassan line is another roadblock for Thalassery-Mysore line. This line maybe possible only if Karnataka reconsiders its stand and offer support.
This leaves us with only Nilambur-Nanjangud line as a possible alternative. Karnataka seems pre-occupied with other priorities for new lines within state and may not be keen now for this line. Hence Kerala state and our MOSR E.Ahmed may have to push for this 238km line for which cost is pegged at a mammoth Rs3500 crore!! State Govt. is again not capable of sharing the huge capital either. Unless, otherwise declared as a national project, railways most likely may not take up this costly project at all.
